We had a hot day today. Although we endured our sizzling hot Middle Eastern summers fairly well, it nearly did us in today when it hit 94 degrees. We thought we might be able to survive without our window AC units this summer, but the humidity has beaten us. When the missionaries came over for dinner tonight we asked the elders to help us put in our huge air conditioner box in our dining room window. The difference now that "the beast" is turned on is substantial. After dinner we raced downtown to join our ward's group to march in the Children's Summerfest Parade. We handed out little bags of candy that included a message about the importance of families. It was the fastest moving parade I've ever witnessed - let alone been a part of. Not sure if it was due to the desire to be out of the sun, to get to the end for free pizza and ice cream, or to keep everyone together in a tight group. Whatever the reason, we jogged through the route, passing goodies out as best we could, and then sat and commiserated about the heat while the kids wandered around looking for ice pops. Summer has arrived.
