Happy New Year!

We had a very fun night, welcoming in the new year. We invited a couple families over to play games and eat lots of good snacks as we counted down the hours till midnight. I used the idea from Family Fun magazine to open up a bag of goodies every hour, to mark the time passing.

At 8:00 we opened a bag containing lots of construction paper number nines to play "Pin the 9 on the New Year". The winner got to choose who got to open the remaining bags.

At 9:00 we opened the bag containing a digital camera, to document the evenings proceedings. I plan on printing up a few of the photos and putting them in a time capsule that we want to put together today and open in the future - maybe 5 years from now?

At 10:00 we opened a bag with a powdered eggnog mix inside. Most of the kids had never tried eggnog, so it was a culinary explorative treat to make eggnog milkshakes which most everyone enjoyed.

At 11:00 we opened the bag which had glow bracelets for everyone.

Just before 12:00 we opened the bag with noisemakers to make a real racket to ring in the New Year. We turned off the lights and made lots of noise and watched the kids run around with their bracelets glowing.

We all had a very fun time, and my girls are already making plans for next year's party!

Yeah! thanks for sharing what was in the rest of the bag so that we could know. We had lots of fun and wish we could have stayed the whole time :o( Oh well. Liam was bouncing off the walls when we got home. He is still talking about playing th Wii! He made it to midnight and beyond. I was struggling to keep my eyes open :o)

I am impressed that Liam was able to stay up past midnight. I wonder if the gingerbread cookies and sweets had anything to do with that? :P
